Understand recovery, rebuild strength and support your client’s return to training through postpartum recovery and into motherhood.
Combine postnatal knowledge with practical coaching skills to plan that return together, respond to her concerns and progress training with her health, wellbeing and goals at the centre.
What the course will explore ↴
-
Explore postnatal physiological changes and how different birth experiences can influence healing, symptoms and readiness for exercise. Understand the fourth trimester while recognising that recovery and coaching needs extend beyond the early weeks.
-
Develop your understanding of pelvic floor function, diastasis recti and their relevance to movement and loading. Learn how to discuss symptoms, adapt exercise and work alongside pelvic health professionals within your scope.
-
Apply postnatal exercise guidance to programme design and progression. Use your client’s recovery, symptoms, training history and goals to guide exercise selection, loading and the return to strength, conditioning and impact-based activity.
-
Consider how sleep, fatigue, feeding and caring responsibilities influence training and recovery. Build rapport and navigate conversations about body image, expectations and changing priorities. Work with your client to establish goals and a training approach that reflects both her circumstances and what she wants to achieve.
-
With your client’s permission, build relationships with the healthcare professionals involved in her recovery. Incorporate their recommendations, approach conversations with care and recognise when further guidance or referral may be beneficial.
